Beginner Crochet Headband
Free Pattern
This beginner crochet headband pattern is lovely and easy to make. The pattern uses one simple stitch and the end result is so darn cute. It can be tied underneath the hair or on top of the head for a sweet look. If you can single crochet, you can make this accessory and it won’t take much time at all.

Abbreviations & Sitches
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- ss – slip stitch
- st(s) – stitch(es)
Materials
- Yarn – any worsted weight #4 yarn. In In this tutorial I used Loops and Threads-soft classic in blush. The red color pictured is wine.
- Hook size US H-8(5 mm)
- Darning needle
- Scissors
Beginner Crochet Headband Pattern
Ch 4
Row 1:
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (3sc)
Row 2:
Ch1, turn. Sc in each st across. (3sc)
Row 3 – 55:
Repeat Row 2
Border:
We are going to work Sc around the entire headband to give it a neat finished look. The right side of the headband is the side facing you as you crochet the border.
Ch1, turn. Sc in next 2 sts, 3sc in next. Turn headband to work along edge. Sc in each row along edge (54sc), 3sc in bottom of 1st ch of beginning ch. Sc in next ch, 3sc in next. Sc across edge(54sc). 2sc in same stitch of first Sc of border. Ss to first Sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
*Cut 5 pieces of yarn 24inches long. You will attach one strand to each of the 5 sts at one end of the headband.
To attach the yarn:
- Fold one strand in half, pinching it near the fold to create a loop.
- Insert your hook through one stitch from wrong side to right side.
- Grab loop and pull through.
- Then pull the 2 ends of the yarn through the loop and tighten.
- Repeat for all 5 sts on that side.
- Repeat steps 1-5 on the other end.
Tie a knot on each side about 1/2 inch from end of headband. Braid the strands and tie another knot at the end.
